Breastfeeding And it’s Benefits
24 JulSome women can, some can’t- but those who can breastfeed truly know its benefits. While it’s natural to breastfeed, it doesn’t always happen naturally for both mother and baby. If not too stressful, it’s worth persevering to make it work. The benefits of breastfeeding are huge and far outweigh the aspects that aren’t always so great.

Booby lift
20 May
No, not the surgically enhanced Booby Lift.
The Booby Lift that you may not talk about, but is done by most breastfeeding women. It is the lift that tells you the volume in each Breast. It is how some of us decide which Booby we are up to for the next feed.
For me, I use the smallest one. I was once told by a Lactation Consultant that if you use the smallest one, which is the usually the one that bubs had second at the previous feed, bubs will take the hind milk (which is thicker and full of the good stuff), then i give the other side. This will be a fuller Boob, but the fore milk will be more watery and less likely to fill bubs tummy.
Now a friend of mine uses the biggest one. Upon our discussion regarding the Booby Lift issue, she stated that she wanted bubs to get a big feed straight up.
You know what. Both of us are great breastfeeders with over 10 years breastfeeding between us. So it does not really matter which way you do it.
Make sure the next time you feed your bub, do the Booby Lift and have a smile.
But be careful, as there are hazards to the Booby Lift. Done with too much force, you could be wearing it as a scarf, or push too hard and you could turn the milk tap on before the juicer is there!
Breastfeeding- Y not?
19 May
Yesterday I spotted an interesting article online about the Y Generation and their attitude towards breastfeeding. Of those surveyed, many were not keen on breastfeeding in public and most didn’t think their child would be exclusively breastfeed in the first six months.
While not always easy, breastfeeding has so many benefits for both mother and baby. Portable, right temperature, perfect nutritional value, great for uterus retraction and such a beautiful bonding time. There are too many good reasons to not give it a try.
Yes, breastfeeding in public can be confronting for some, especially earlier on. However, these days there are numerous tops and covers on the market to make it more discreet. Sometimes I do get looks when feeding in public, but most of the time it’s accompanied with a smile and words of encouragement from an older lady. If there are others, maybe I just don’t notice…
